Characteristics of soft nitriding

1. The soft nitriding treatment temperature of the nitriding furnace is low, the time is short, and the deformation of the workpiece is small.   

2. Nitriding furnace soft nitriding is not limited by steel grade. Carbon steel, low-alloy steel, tool and mold steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and iron-based powder metallurgy materials can all undergo soft nitriding treatment. The surface hardness of workpieces after soft nitriding is related to the nitriding process and materials.

3. Nitriding furnace soft nitriding can significantly improve the fatigue strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance of workpieces. It also has anti abrasion and anti bite properties under dry friction conditions.

4. Due to the absence of brittle ξ phase in the soft nitriding layer of the nitriding furnace, the nitriding layer is hard and has a certain degree of toughness, making it difficult to peel off.

Therefore, currently, nitriding furnace soft nitriding has been widely used in the treatment of wear-resistant workpieces such as molds, measuring tools, cutting tools (such as high-speed steel cutting tools), crankshafts, gears, cylinder liners, mechanical structural components, etc.
